A special edition newspaper has hit the streets, to mark the Social Business Wales Conference 2019, which is taking place today at Venue Cymru in Llandudno.

Aura Leisure, last night’s Social Enterprise of the Year winners, make the front page. You’ll find details of the other successful businesses, from last night’s Social Business Wales Awards, overleaf. Among those on the roll of honour is Community Impact Initiative, who won the One to Watch award.

The newspaper features a number of articles from today’s conference speakers, including our headliners Sam Conniff-Allende and Lowri Morgan. Sam talks about the informative ‘Be More Pirate’ approach to business, saying: “I’m proud and excited to be coming back to Wales to share my message, meet with my comrades in social business and return to the homeland of the pirates, who I think all of us can draw real inspiration from in times like these.” Lowri will be sharing stories of her global adventures, including treks through the Amazon and Arctic. Lowri’s speech will no doubt prove inspiring to delegates.

There’s an exclusive on the new Social Enterprise Academy for Wales, and an opinion piece from Derek Walker, Chief Executive of the Wales Co-operative Centre, on the challenges currently facing the social business sector in Wales.

The inside pages also carry news of exciting times for Social Business Wales, and stories from another two of today’s speakers who talk about innovative work being done by their social enterprises in North Wales. Details of the conference’s masterclasses and fringe events demonstrate the range of knowledge and expertise that is brought to the event.

And what newspaper would be complete without an Agony Aunt column? In ‘Ask Jacqui’, Jacqui Cross – a Business Adviser on Social Business Wales – responds to queries from three social businesses.

Whether you’re attending the conference or not, you can download the conference newspaper as it’s made available online for the first time.
