Advisory board members will be expected to help promote the project and its services, advise on gaps in provision and opportunities within, and for, the sector, as well as help promote joined up services for the sector.

Standing for the Social Business Wales Advisory Board is an opportunity to get your views and opinions on the direction of Social Business support in Wales heard directly by those who are planning and delivering it.

Previous advisory group members have had the opportunity to make a meaning input into the development and strategy of the project.

Access to procurement opportunities is a current priority and this has been driven by market development research and input from the Advisory Board.

“I’d like to think I’ve contributed an alternative business perspective to the proceedings. Manufacturing and social value combined is my passion and being a part of the SBW advisory board has given me a platform of legitimacy from which to help others achieve their social mission and also a better understanding of a previously alien, policy laden, but necessary, process to establish the Social Business sector as key to the future of Wales.”

Jo Ashburner, Red Dragon Manufacturing

“By hosting the Social Business Wales project the Wales Cooperative Centre has a unique opportunity to support the development of social enterprise in Wales but it needs strong, vocal practitioners that are working at ground level to help steer that project. I believe my experience as founder and MD of Greenstream and my first hand experience of public procurement and ecommerce markets have brought a useful insight to the board and a developing awareness of what needs to be done to maximize the well being act for the benefit of social enterprises in Wales. I have been working in the social enterprise sector in Wales for eighteen years, 9 or them within my own social enterprise.”

Ellen Petts, Greenstream Flooring
