This free event will be hosted at Rodney Parade by Newport County FC; a club that managed to raise £250k in just 5 weeks through a share offer and gave the community control of the club.
There will be a range of attendees from across the co-operative and sporting sector, with experienced practitioners and club leaders able to discuss whether a community shares scheme might be the right choice for your club. Guest speakers include Stuart Fuller, the Chairman of Lewes FC, who will explain how a club that was struggling financially has rebuilt itself to new heights (including a new 3G facility!), by using the co-operative model with a community share offer at its core.
- Are you involved with a sports club that is democratically run?
- Would your sports club be willing to change it’s structure to better serve the community?
- Is your club looking to develop and grow?
- Do you have the opportunity to take on an asset or see a business opportunity for your club?
- Do you need help raising capital to achieve your club’s ambitions?
If so we would encourage you to attend this event and find out if community shares could be the way forward to help your club thrive. Book your free tickets now to avoid disappointment.
About community shares
Over the past few years over 400 community businesses have raised more than £100 million through community share offers, including 14 sports clubs who have raised almost £7 million working with SD. Although most of the share offers to date have involved football clubs this method of finance can work for any sports club, in the same way it has been successful with shops, pubs and a range of sectors.
